Where Art is Happening

DATA Di students had an amazing opportunity this spring to photograph the 2011 Indian Wells Arts Festival from April 1st through the 3rd at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. Students worked in teams each day shooting professional artists and the art's community for the event's producer, Dianne Funk. After working long hours in the hot sun, students edited their work with Apple's Aperture, then uploaded their best shots to the Festival's website for professional judging. Selected student images will also be displayed at www.indianwellsartsfestival.com.

A very special thank you goes out to
for providing DATA Di students this great experience!

  1. Working in the Indian Wells Art Festival, was only dreadful because of the scorching heat. But overall, I really enjoyed walking around taking photographs of the artists and their work. Not just that, but meeting artist whom wanted to know about what you enjoyed most about art and interested in our opinions. It was a nice experience!

  2. Indian Wells Arts Festival was a great opportunity to ask artist about their work, as well as feedback for future references. Some were honored to have their picture taken, but as for other artist, they found it inappropriate on our part. Overall, the heat made it difficult to continue taking pictures, but it was an amazing experience.

  5. Shooting for the Indian Wells Art Festival was something that I will never forget. Coming form an artistic background, I found this event very pleasing and interesting. There were many types of art medium, from digital art to traditional art. Not everyone gets the opportunity to be there for all three days and capture the fun and inviting event through a lens.

  6. I unfortunately was unable to attend the Indian Wells Art Festival and i deeply regret it. It seems like a wonderful opportunity to bask in the cultural and artistic diversity that's present there. There appeared to be many chances to take great pictures that i unfortunately missed. I will definitely attend next year should the chance present itself again.
