PSIFF Year Six

On Jan. 13th, 120 DATA students attended the Palm Springs International Film Festival's Student Screening Day for the sixth year in a row. Two world-class films were shown to a packed house of 1,000+ Coachella Valley high school students, as well as a filmmaker Q&A, and lunch from Chipotle Mexican Grill.

Especially interesting this year was the appearance of x-pro snowboarder Kevin Pearce as follow up to the screening of the HBO documentary feature, The Crash Reel, a story about his recovery from a traumatic brain injury while training for the 2010 Winter Olympics.

The second film selection, Wadjdafrom Sony Pictures Classics was equally emotional and inspiring. This film was shot by the first female filmmaker in Saudi Arabia and was the first full-length feature shot in the country.

A huge thank you to the Palm Springs International Film Society for their continued support of arts education!

CCHS Arts Night Zombified

On Friday, January 10th the 2nd Annual CCHS Arts Night was a great success! Students from all arts disciplines shared their talents with crowds ebbing and flowing through the all new 808 Gallery, performing arts held in the CCHS theater, and the #DATAcademy dual digital digital display of photography, video, and animation.

Especially interesting was the demonstration of 3Di's all new CC Zombies 3d interactive game based on the personality and layout of the CCHS campus.

Stay tuned for further news of CC Zombies' June 2014 launch with guidance from Joel Fashingbauer of Silicon Springs.
