  • Wesley Whiteside awarded $2,500.00 scholarship from the Advertising Federation of the Desert for his work in animation.

  • DATA graduates its first class! Congratulations to Khoa Nguyen, Andrew Purnel, Jackie Zavala, Brianna Serrano, Milo Rivera, Jesse Williams, Gary Black, David Martin, Wesley Whiteside, Alex Urrutia, Jonathan Mosack, Ricardo Salinas, Adderly Pazos, Jeremy Bricker, Danielle Parra, Fred Ortega, Ryan Mendez, Heather Paquette, Danilo Hernandez, and Christina Villareal

  • The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Pacific Southwest chapter, awards digital imaging instructor Matt Cauthron $3,500.00 and student Wesley Whiteside $1,500.00.

  • Apple Distinguished Educator 
    • Matt Cauthron, DATA Di instructor, joins 1,000+ in “a global community of innovative leaders in education”.

  • DATA launches TheProwler.us
    • The online magazine for CCHS merges art with information and print with video to create a literacy project that spans the state standards of visual arts, language arts, and technology.  Advanced photography students provide the photos and graphics while broadcast journalism students provide the editorial copy and video for a blend of school community news and features wrapped in a visually stunning product of higher order thinking skills.

  • DATA receives a Demonstration Grant from the California Department of Education for the THIRD year.  

  • DATA Teachers Matt Cauthron and Matt Hamilton presented this year at the California League of High Schools conference in Monterey, the Computer Using Educators conference in Palm Springs, and the California Partnership Academy conference in San Diego.

  • Principal Guillermo Chavez presented CCHS and the DATA program at the 40th Annual Congress of Education in Mexico City. Wesley Whiteside's animation, Kangaroo Rat, was shown to attendees.

  • Award-winning digital photography shows:
    • Works by Andrew Purnel, Jesse Williams, Danielle Parra, Khoa Nguyen, and Cindy Sanchez are accepted into the Palm Springs Art Museum’s annual Fine Arts Creativity show.
    • Works by Jesse Williams, Danielle Parra, and Khoa Nguyen are accepted into the permanent collection at Safe House of the Desert.                                                      

  • Motion arts showcase at P.S. Art Museum
    • By special invitation from the Palm Springs Art Museum, digital animation students created a special motion arts display for the annual Fine Arts Creativity show.

  • Digital imaging instructor, Matt Cauthron
    • Will present at the RIMS CTAP Emerging Trends conference at Cal State SB August ‘07
    • Assists the CDE and the California Arts Education Association in planning the Digital Arts Day for the annual CAEA conference in Pasadena, 2008.
