My Community in B&W Shows at Garrow Gallery

My Community in Black and White, a photography exhibit from students in Cathedral City schools, is on display during the month of April, 2010 at the Garrow Gallery at College of the Desert.  This exhibit was organized by PSUSD Visual and Performing Arts Specialist Louisa Castrodale and judged by local photographer Ethan Kaminsky.

  1. One of the two photos I chose for the My Community in B&W contest was a photo I originally took my sophomore year. I decided to look through my previous work and I came across the photo which was originally in color. I entered the photo and it may not have won but it was put in The Lions Quill magazine which is a magazine that is made at Cathedral City High School. The magazine shows Images and includes poems. All of these items are made by students at the high school.

  2. I was the lucky winner of this contest! I thought my photo had potential, but I didn't think that it would win Best of Show. My picture was of my friend, Elias Texel, while he was walking into his room.

  3. Although my photo did not win anything, this was still exciting because my work got to be displayed for our community to see and maybe be viewed by potential clients.

  5. I thought one of my photos would've got in because it showed something that has to do with the Coachella Valley and My Community but I guess not. Congrats though to everyone whose material was shown.

  6. Although I was not a winner of this contest, I really enjoyed the fact that my Lomo Self-Portrait picture was displayed. It made me feel really good about myself and I got many compliments on it.

  7. Even though my picture wasnt legit enough for this challenge i still really liked the basis for the assignment. I love black and white photography, and some of the ones entered were very good.

  9. I wish my picture would've been shown but that's not how it was, but it's ok. For those whose pictures were shown, I can see why. You all had pictures worthy enough.

  15. This challenge was one of my two favorite ones because I took the time to work on the picture and it was one of the easiest challenge.
