Perseverance
Digital Photograph

"This photograph is a metaphor for life and the steps we take along the way. These steps are not always level, but often times seem spiraling upward. The shadow on the stairwell emphasizes the blue sky, which are the expectations we face. It takes character and persistence to persevere."
Katie England,
Project: Peace
Digital Image

"Not too long ago, someone asked me what I expect from the world in the future. I want the world to be at peace, with no hate in it. However, a perfect Utopia is unreal. But I expect, that with a change inside of our democracy, we may have a chance at finding these specific things that I address in my photograph, “Project: Peace”."

My name is Katie and I created the piece "Project: Peace". It was difficult to come up with an idea for this assignment. The idea of creating something that is exceeding expectations is so abstract that it took a little while to think of something. Once I figured out an idea, creating the image wasn't so hard.
ReplyDeleteAfter being informed of the theme for this year's art competition, my instantaneous abstract cognitive skills permitted me to approach this subject in many ways. The difficulty behind the task itself was choosing whether or not I should meet, exceed, or defy expectations. After I did so, however, I embarked on a journey to construct and convey a metaphorical message to my audience. The task at hand is extremely rewarding, concerning I did not have the opportunity to participate in last year's show. Knowing that I'm placed upon nearly 50 other selected pieces is an honor, and I'm ecstatic to see the other pieces.
ReplyDeleteI really love all these pictures. especially Jessica's because it makes perfect sense and i totally understand exactly what the picture says without having to read the description and thats what i like about photography . you can just see the picture and know exactly the topic. great job everyone!
