DATA Students Prepare for El Paseo Fashion Show
DATA students Victor Gonzalez (left) and Lupita Fuentes (middle) talk with Susan Stein, Fashion Editor for Palm Springs Life, about the graphics and video the two students put together for the opening night runway show for the Fifth Annual Fashion Week El Paseo. Gonzalez is a student in Matt Cauthron's advanced digital imaging class and Fuentes is a videographer in Matt Hamilton's digital storytelling class at Cathedral City High School. DATA students will be shooting stills and video for this year's event that runs March 21-28.
Cathedral City in Black and White

Students from all nine of the Cathedral City schools were challenged to represent life in their community through black and white imagery. The 50 primary and secondary student finalists will be awarded on March 20th as part of the Live Arts! event in the Cathedral City town square. The event will also be exhibited during the month of April at the College of the Desert library.
"I was intrigued by the freshness that both the beginning and advanced photography students from CCHS brought to the project. It didn't occur to me that people would take such a central role as subjects in the contest, but after viewing the work, I understand, and I was moved by the images."

DATA digital imaging junior Victor Gonzalez's image, Potential Beauty (above), was selected to be shown among professionals from across the country in the 1st annual Earth Through a Lens photography exhibit. This exhibit, sponsored by the Palm Springs Sustainability Commission, will be displayed in store fronts along Palm Canyon Drive from April 1 - 30, 2010 as part of the 40th anniversary of Earth Day.
"I was trying to find the potential beauty of the desert behind the Dream Homes project of Cathedral City. I live in this neighborhood and see each day how people neglect it and leave their garbage for others to endure".

2010 DATA WB and Paramount Studio Tours
Over 100 DATA students toured the Paramount and Warner Bros. Studios on Feb. 18, 2010.
''We saw 'Cold Case' being filmed at the Warner Bros. Studios,'' said Melissa Wilson, a third-year DATA student. ''They shot the scenes over and over again until they got it right.''
DATA student Robert Arnold said one of the highlights of the trip was seeing the old and new Batmobile as well as all the props for movies like Norbit, Harry Potter, and Spiderman.'
''We also got to be on the set of Dr. Phil, which is interesting because I watch that show,'' said DATA student Markie Hackwith.
