DATA Di is very pleased to announce FLOAT!, the second global photography challenge from The Student Creative: a network of students and teachers working to promote creativity through technology, collaboration, and digital arts. Influenced by the portrait work of Philippe Halsman and other modern professionals, students from across geos were given the task of creating a moment of magical realism while practicing high speed photography in their community. The book (above), available on Blurb.com and edited by DATA Di, compiles the work of multiple high school programs from the US and China.
Just like Paint the world with Light, 100% of the proceeds from Float! will be donated to the Jacaranda Foundation to help bring arts and technology to the Jacaranda School, an AIDS orphanage in Malawi, South Africa.

This project was so fun to do, at first it was frustrating to come up with a good idea. Finally I came up with my idea to use two dancers that can flip in the air. That was a really fun experience, I tried to get creative and I took so many picture and out of those pictures, I got maybe 3 good pictures. But all in all this was a great creative experience.

ReplyDeleteThis project was one of my favorites because it made us think outside the box. Anybody can jump and call it float but it takes skill to make it look nice and believable. I hope to do something like this again.
ReplyDeleteThis project was a lot of fun because you had to come up with something very creative. Everyone can just take a picture of something that looks like its falling but you had to be creative and come up with your own idea. Thats why i really enjoyed this project.
