DATA Digital Imaging is very proud of it's Challenge Based Learning collaboration, Pandora's Box. Not only was the process of working together with two 3rd grade classrooms at Rio Vista Elementary towards a video and digital book exciting for all, but the project has earned some local and regional recognition.
We are very pleased to share the following awards

I loved working with the students at Rio Vista Elementary School. I was great how their mind is so talented because i saw some drawings that i probably couldn't draw. My students that I had were great they came up with cool pictures and I hope they liked the picture I made.
ReplyDeleteI had alot of fun on this project. Seeing how the things I learned in the class room can be put to use with other students learning other things was pretty awesome.
ReplyDeleteI had a very great experience working with the kids and they made me realize that imagination can be found anywhere.
ReplyDeletethis project was fun because i got to be the model for pandora. i love the fact that we had 3rd grade students got to be in this project . there side of the project was to draw a specific part of the book and draw a picture, our job was to recreate there drawing.
ReplyDeleteThis project used a lot of work. As a class we all got to enjoy the company of some amazing third graders and got to see their creative side. The idea of this project was simply amazing! Just to think about how you can take a child's water painting and create your version if the child's painting. Its a challenge but it really helps reveal everyone's creative side.
ReplyDeleteI like Jayke's portion of the project. I like how he depicted the war section of pandora's box.
ReplyDeleteI witnessed Jayke drawing the war image and the work and effort he put into it was a lot. Im proud that I can say I saw him do this and that i also saw him approve throughout the year.
ReplyDeleteI had a lot of fun working with the students at Rio Vista Elementary. I also learned how to better use Photoshop, since I never really used it. I'm really glad I had the opportunity to work on this project
ReplyDeleteWorking on this project was great. It was fun working with the kids and getting the chance to convert their drawings into our own creative images.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I only worked on the video portion of this project, I truly feel that I understand what it did for our class. This was the first collaboration that I took part in, and feeling like a part of the class made my day.
ReplyDeleteWorking on this project was a great experience. Even though I didn't get to work with the kids it was still beneficial to work with a huge group of people to make one big project.
ReplyDeleteHaving this opportunity to work with elementary students was great. Being able to work with the kid's painting was really fun. Who knew kids that young had such an amazing imagination. It was also a good experience having to work with the D.A.T.A. students to recreate the kids paintings.
ReplyDeleteThe Pandoras box project is another opportunity that i failed to take. It looked like a lot of fun, and especially because you got to work with the creative young minds of children!
ReplyDeleteBeing in Pandora's Box help me be more creative in a photograph, such as making a drawing pretty much come to life. This was a fun project also by working with children and seeing how creative they are and how they just have fun but at the same time the creativity comes from them just enjoying the story,Thanks to this it made me realize that every one has creativity and creativity in drawings, paintings, and pictures could always be extended by open ideas.
ReplyDeleteEvery day for a few weeks I saw students in DATA working on this project and I can honestly say that this came out great. The narration and video are both wonderful! I also think it's cool how you guys collaborated with 3rd Graders.
ReplyDeleteGetting the chance to work and hang out with elementary school students was great! It was really fun working on this project and really recommend everyone else in the future to do it if you get the chance to.
ReplyDeleteI wish I was able to do this project, but it came out great the photograpgy and editing are excellent.
ReplyDeleteI didn't do this project because I thought it was too hard, but seeing everyone else's amazing creations I wished I would've done it. I love Victor's and Melissa's!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed working on the Pandora Box. This project gave me experience working with little kids and this will help me for the future since I want to be an elementary teacher.
ReplyDeleteI participated in this project. I enjoyed working on it, it was so much fun. Working with elementary school students was great, they have so much imagination. Pandora's Box came out to be a success.
ReplyDeleteI did not participate in this but it really looked like an interesting project. It really was a difficult project to have to remake a child's water painting picture into a picture that you make but still referring back to the child's picture.
ReplyDeleteI did participate in this event. I was one of the artists and one of the models. I drew the war image for the book and modeled as Zeus for another picture. It was really fun working with the kids and drawing a picture for them. I knew they loved it when I showed them.
ReplyDeletePandora's Box was very intriguing because high school students worked with children to create a story. It not only helped young kids express themselves through drawings but also helped the high school students with being in a team, a skill that's very useful
ReplyDeleteJose Estrad: I can't believe we won something.
ReplyDeleteWorking with Rio Vista Elementary kids was amazing! It was an eye opener,, showing two different ideas from different age spectrums. It was also really fun working with my three girls too
ReplyDeleteThe Digicom was an amazing experience! All of our project from Cathedral City High School were simply amazing and I loved that the collaborative project from Pandora's box was such a success! It really deserved it with everyone's work! Great job everyone!
ReplyDeleteWhat's better than doing a project, involving elementary school kids? It was very entertaining and an unforgettable moment. I really hope to work with them again in the future. How amazing is turning a children's piece of art into a picture. Pandora's Box was a true success and many truly did enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteI liked this project a lot because we got to work with elementary school kids. It was cool how we interpreted their drawing and came up with a real life photo of their drawing.
ReplyDeleteI shared our project with Yeondoo Jung, the artist whose work inspired the images for our project. He got back to me with the following...
ReplyDeleteDear Matt,
Thank you for forwarding the link.
I am very impressed by the students work!
It's always fun to work with children, and I hope you and your students enjoy the moment of creation.
Please keep in touch.
All the best,
Yeondoo Jung
I love how everything was put together very neatly. I hope I get to work with students from other schools throughout my high school years while being in DATA.
ReplyDeleteJaykes picture is so funny! I watched the video and it was so good, the pictures, the story and the little girl reading was so cute.
ReplyDeleteWow!
ReplyDeleteThis was really amazing to see!
This was very well done!
The Pandoras Box project looked like it was a lot of fun, unfortunately i missed the opportunity to do this project. From everyone i talked to they said that it was one of their favorite projects because they were able to teach children.
ReplyDeleteI didn't participate but this project looked like it took a lot of creativity and was an amazing experience to work with kids at Rio Vista.
ReplyDeleteGetting to work with 3rd graders was really fun. I got to interact with them and see their creativity. Through the paintings I was able to put their perspective of the story and my perspective together, combining them to make one picture.
ReplyDeleteThis was a project I regret not doing because it look like a lot of fun working with kids and watching how mind worked.
ReplyDeletePandora's Box was an amazing success. I did not participate in this event but my friend did, and she said she had a wonderful time. Getting to work with kids and use their imagination to create a masterpiece.
ReplyDeleteI am a graduate of Palm Desert High School (class of '94), but I work in
ReplyDeleteSanta Barbara now at the Santa Barbara County Education Office as a Digital
Media Resources Developer (fancy name for a web developer :) ). Anyway, I
follow a lot of ed tech people on Twitter to stay up to date, and I was on
the Nerdy Teacher's blog today because I was interested in something he
posted on Twitter, and I happened across this blog post, which fascinated
me:
http://www.thenerdyteacher.com/2011/10/pandoras-box-cross-curricular-project
.html
Of course I thought this was some project done at a private school, or in a
state with more money going towards education . . . and then I saw the
credits at the end of the Pandora's Box movie and my mouth dropped open when
I realized that this was a project done at a school in the area I grew up
in, in the DESERT! I could not believe it and I was so PROUD! All I can say
is *wow* ‹ I don't know how you are pulling it off, but I am so glad you
are! :)
Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that, because I thought you'd get a kick
out of it, and if it makes you feel great about what you do, then even
better! :)
