PSIFF Year Six

On Jan. 13th, 120 DATA students attended the Palm Springs International Film Festival's Student Screening Day for the sixth year in a row. Two world-class films were shown to a packed house of 1,000+ Coachella Valley high school students, as well as a filmmaker Q&A, and lunch from Chipotle Mexican Grill.

Especially interesting this year was the appearance of x-pro snowboarder Kevin Pearce as follow up to the screening of the HBO documentary feature, The Crash Reel, a story about his recovery from a traumatic brain injury while training for the 2010 Winter Olympics.

The second film selection, Wadjdafrom Sony Pictures Classics was equally emotional and inspiring. This film was shot by the first female filmmaker in Saudi Arabia and was the first full-length feature shot in the country.

A huge thank you to the Palm Springs International Film Society for their continued support of arts education!
