Congratulations to the International Society For Technology in Education's 2012 Outstanding Teacher!
This award, presented at the international conference held in San Diego, recognizes and honors one PK–12 teacher who has
demonstrated outstanding achievement and leadership in implementing
technology to improve education. Candidates
for this award are nominated by ISTE affiliates, a network of nearly
80 professional associations representing more than 100,000 educators
worldwide.
Cahuilla CUE (Computer Using Educators of the Coachella Valley) nominated Cauthron for his ability to engage students and encourage creativity by providing them with a rich learning environment. He is also recognized for his achievements in helping Apple develop its Challenge Based Learning model, designed the e-learning environment- Digital Arts Education, and has launched multiple local and global digital arts collaborations. He is also an Apple Distinguished Educator, Adobe Education Leader, and serves as a dedicated leader and active member of various digital arts and educational technology professional communities.

Nominations are reviewed by a team of education
and technology professionals from around the world using the following criteria

The nominee's work has had a significant positive impact on technology use in education locally,
regionally, statewide, nationally, or worldwide.

The nominee has involved the community in the initiative or program to facilitate partnerships with
business and/or legislative institutions to advance the use of technology in education.

The nominee works tirelessly to genuinely improve the quality of education.

The nominee has demonstrated his/her ability to both deliberately plan for and incorporate the use of
technology for the purpose of improving the educational setting.

The quality of education and/or work experience has been significantly advanced in the nominee's
workplace as a result of the nominees efforts.

The nominee is an active member of professional organizations.

The nominee has contributed to the profession by presenting at professional conferences, seminars,
and/or workshops or by publishing articles in print or through electronic media.

The nominee's work can be used as a model.

The nominee's work reflects the mission and purpose of ISTE.
- The nominee will represent ISTE well in all forums.
Mr. Cauthron will also be recognized by Palm Springs Unified School District
at the September 11th Board meeting.
