On January 28th, aspiring educator Eamon Conklin returned to CCHS to observe and share his passion for photography with DATA
Di students. Eamon, a 2003 CCHS graduate, earned his BA in Art from
UC Riverside and his MA in Art from the
Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. He spoke with Di students about his academic and creative pursuits, as well as his medium format urban and desert photographic studies.
Having Eamon as a guest speaker was, in my opinion, the greatest speaker we had this year. It wasn't just because he was young and from our high school, but because of his different strategy when taking photographs. It was nice to see material used with an old camera and to hear the appreciating towards the old cameras.
ReplyDeleteEamon Conklin's is a great photographer. He took some INCREDIBLE pictures like the roads of LA without any cars, the light in the desert, the freeway without any cars passing by, and he doesn't use any photoshop they photo is mormal the way he took it. The most picture that took my breath away has the LA road without cars that was amazing.
ReplyDeleteI loved the technique he developed on shooting at slow shutter speed, and low exposure to get that ghost town feeling in pictures. It taught me that I should try new things, and that mistakes often lead to success.
ReplyDeleteThe work that Eamon showed us was outstanding, it made me realize that lighting really does make a difference in any picture. The pictures of the empty L.A. streets had that heavy ghost feeling. I would definitely enjoy taking similar pictures myself.
