Julius Schulman Lecture
On January 16th, 2008, The Digital Element Club will be hosting renown architectural photographer, Julius Schulman. With the help of Visual Arts Coordinator, Louisa Castrodale, Mr. Shulman will show and discuss his work with the students.
Digital Arts Creativity at PS Art Museum
Congratulations to the following students for their digital art work being accepted into the annual Fine Arts Creativity show at the Palm Springs Art Museum: Cindy Sanchez (digital photograph), Markie Hackwith (digital light drawing), Bryan O’Neil (3D rendering), Jessica Smith (digital composite), and Hana Wexler (digital composite). This will be Cindy’s second year in the show!!!
Julius Shulman Workshop
On March 11th, as a follow up to his lecture at CCHS, Mr. Shulman will be providing a personal tour of his new exhibit at the Palm Springs Art Museum and giving an architectural photography workshop. Catch the podcast later!

DATA Awarded California Partnership Academy
The Digital Arts Technology Academy (DATA) at Cathedral City High School has received a California Partnership Academy grant from the California Department of Education. The Partnership Academy Model is a three-year program, grades 10-12, structured as a school-within-a-school and provides DATA with an $81,000 grant to support this model. For the past three years, DATA has received a $10,000 grant from the CDE to serve as a demonstration school for other high schools around the state that are interested in improving or starting a digital arts program
Did someone say 4 Gig Flash Drives?
Beginning Fall 2008, all DATA students will be receiving customized 4 gig Flash drives and lanyards as a means to transfer project files between Academy classes and home!
Di senior Bryan O'Neil awarded $1,000.00 scholarship from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Pacific Southwest chapter
La Quinta Arts Scholarships Awarded
DATA seniors who are pursuing degrees in digital / visual arts were awarded scholarships from the La Quinta Arts Foundation.

Emanuel Leon Designs
In addition to designing t-shirts for a variety of school clubs, DATA senior Emanuel Leon, has been actively creating graphics for the Palm Springs Art Museum and GoBike as well as motion graphics for the Indian Jones release at the Mary Pickford Theater.
Top High School Honor at PS Art Museum
Jessica Smith received the $1,000 Fogelson-Anderson Purchase Award, the top high school honor at the PS Museum’s Fine Arts Creativity show. Her work will be added to the Museum’s permanent educational collection. This is the second purchase award received by a Digital Imaging student in the past three years.
Lions’ Quill Awards Ceremony
For the second year in a row, Jessica Smith received the First Place Photography award for her piece, The Eyes of Brimstone at the Lions’ Quill Awards ceremony.
Congratulations also go to the following DATA students for their work being published in the annual arts and literature magazine: Jennifer Valdez, Lixe-Hernandez-Carr, Bryan O’Neil, Kim Padilla, Leah Oakes, Markie Hackwith, Hinnaneh Qazi, Brittany Crawford, Katie England!
