DATA Students Partner With Nellie Coffman

DATA juniors and seniors are working with students from Nellie Coffman Middle School in an after school program that meets every Thursday afternoon. The goal of the program is for the students to complete and submit a video for the PSUSD Digicom Showcase May 4, 2010.

Students Launch Create v.1


DATA Di is pleased to announce the first volume of Create Magazine.  Create v.1 is dedicated to the student digital imaging work from the first semester of the 2009 - 2010 school year and was edited by DATA seniors Tyler Johnson and Ivan Eissler.

Create v.2, Fashion | Energy is in the works.!


99 Design Challenge with Joshua Butler

During the months of November and December 2009, DATA digital imaging students interested in graphic design worked with local graphic artist Joshua Butler.  Joshua spoke to students about his high school experience at Idyllwild Arts Academy, earning a business degree from CSUSB, working as a web marketing manager for American Leak Detection, and his continued pursuit and passion for drawing.
 
After teaching students about logo design and Adobe's Illustrator and Kuler, Joshua challenged students with a real world project as offered by the design community at 99 Designs.com.  Through interaction in class and via the Digital Arts Education Ning, students received critique of their designs before submitting them to the online design community.

The skills learned from this experience were further applied to more logo design challenges on Infectious.com and for the DigiCom Logo Design Challenge, Heinz Ketchup Creativity Contest 2010, Doodle-4-Google, and more on 99 Designs.
